This solo show by former resident artist Erin Wallace in encaustic mixed media represents a modern approach to an ancient art form that combines molten beeswax, damar resin, and pigments with various materials, often with a dash of precious metal leaf. This technique, rooted in history, uses heat to fuse layers, creating a luminous, translucent depth that can be polished to a high sheen or left with intense, textured details.
